Armenia officially the Republic of Armenia, is a country in the South Caucasus region of Eurasia. Armenia is bordered on the north by Georgia, the east by Azerbaijan; the south by Iran; and the southwest and west by Turkey.

 

The climate in Armenia is markedly highland continental. Summers are dry and sunny, lasting from June to mid-September. The temperature fluctuates between 22 and 36°C. Winters are quite cold with plenty of snow, with temperatures ranging between −10 and −5°C. Armenian is the only official language. The main foreign languages that Armenians know are Russian and English.

 

Armenia is a member of the Eurasian Economic Union, the Council of Europe and the Collective Security Treaty Organization. 

 

Armenia was the first country to have adopted Christianity as its state religion. Today, 97% of the population today are Christians and Armenia has one of the most beautiful churches in the world.

 

Yerevan, Capital City of Armenia is one of the most beautiful “pink city’ that we’ve ever been to, her buildings were all made of naturally coloured volcanic rocks of varying shades of pink, hence giving her the name “pink city”.

 

Schooling takes 12 years in Armenia and breaks down into primary (4 years), middle (5 years) and high school (3 years). Schools engage a 10-grade mark system. Primary and secondary education in Armenia is free, and completion of secondary school is compulsory. Chess is a compulsory subject in schools. All students have to take chess as a compulsory subject in school and there are even exams for it.

 

The Ministry of Education and Science is responsible for regulation of the sector. Armenian National Academy of Sciences plays important role in postgraduate education. High education in Armenia is harmonized with Bologna process. 

 

The Degree that is awarded in Armenia after 6 years of study is Doctor of Medicine (M.D) which is equivalent to MBBS in India. The Medical Universities in Armenia are recognized by Medical Council of India (MCI) and World Health Organization (WHO).
